How exactly does a vacuum pump degas during the extrusion process?
Nov 06 , 2024

In the plastic extrusion process, the degassing application of the vacuum pump is mainly achieved by the following steps:

1.Plastic melting and volatile gas extraction: In the plastic extrusion process, the plastic raw material is heated and melted, and the volatile moisture and gases in this process need to be removed. In this process, the vacuum pump extracts these vaporized moisture and gases directly from the extruder screw area.

2.Improve product structure and physical properties: By removing gases from molten plastics, the structure and physical properties of the product can be greatly improved, reducing voids or other defects in the finished product.

3.Vacuum control: During the extrusion process, vacuum pumps are used to control and maintain a specific vacuum level to ensure the effective removal of gases from molten plastics.

4.Improved product quality: In plastic extruders, applying a vacuum can remove air bubbles, which can cause holes or other defects in the finished product. The quality of the extruded product can be improved by using a vacuum system suitable for the degassing of plastic extruders, such as our HDV series oil-lubricated vacuum pumps.

5.Automation control: In some applications, vacuum pumps can be combined with extruder control systems to achieve automatic control and improve production efficiency and product quality.

6.Combination of vacuum pump and hot air dryer: In the plastic drying system, equipment such as vacuum pump and hot air dryer can be combined to improve the drying effect of plastic raw materials.

Through the above steps, the degassing application of vacuum pumps in the plastic extrusion process can effectively improve the quality of plastic products and ensure the continuity and stability of the production process.
